This is insane.

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Great article. Even Mr. Buffet is getting slaughtered in this market with many other masters, but they can afford it. Talk about lack of control, we're about to elect a man who's buds are admitted Marxists...scary. The market does not seem to be reassured at the prospect.

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Nice article Ed. I intend to do some moving this morning. (Much needed.)

BTW, I am from a town about 30 miles south of Macon. Frank Kern is an old friend of mine. I'm an attorney and I drafted an end-user/non-compete/non-disclosure agreement for his serializer seminars. In following him, I now notice his frequent habit of adding "TM" after comments or phrases he deems unique. I take credit for that (though only in my head). Frank is, of course, one of the funniest people I know.

Anyway.... I have followed you somewhat through following Frank. Please give Frank my regards next time you talk to him. Keep up the good work. I will have to start frequenting your blog. Check out my first marketing effort (a baby sign language book and video) at yourtalkingbaby.com.

Thanks,

JGW

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Ed,

what can I say...? This is a feckin' awesome post and sooooo on the money!

I'm looking forward to your post on the power of posture ;-)

I doff my hat to you sir!

Donal

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Great post Ed! The human body was built to move but these days we're always cooped up in a cubicle hell with flourescent lighting. It's not the best environment to stay in a good frame of mind in.

As an adjunct, the link between body and mind has been known for a long time. Actors know this, and they use it when they act, check out the special features in the Lord of the Rings trilogy to see how Andy Serkis contorted his body to get into character. If posture is THAT powerful, just think about what we do to ourselves every day sitting in a cramped, slumped posture in our cubicle hell.

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Excellent advice Ed, I love the gym or swimming, but always use the time at the gym to listen to podcasts, otherwise I end up listening to them when I'm trying to be productive, which doesn't work well at all.

David

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Hi Ed

This is such a timely post and I agree with everything you say! Movement does makes all the difference. If you work from home it's so easy to put off moving and getting outside, and yet everytime I choose to go for a walk, I get the best ideas and feel way better afterwards. My last 30 mins walk gave me loads of new keyword ideas, a new idea for a blog, thoughts and marketing ideas after walking past shop windows etc. Also, your point about you can only control what's in your control is so right - and yes, you can control processes, but not the outcomes - it's being overly attached to what might or might not happen that leads to procrastination or the dreaded paralysis analysis. Right, I'll be off for my walk just as soon as I've finished going through my RSS feeds!

Thanks Ed, great post.

All the best

Tamsin/nudgeme

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

Hey Ed,

Just thought I'd let you know that I listened to podcasts of you (and Dan) while I trained for the Melbourne marathon over the last 4 months! It was a great way to take my mind of the 60 - 80 kms a week ;-)

Obviously I agree - "get moving everyone" - It really will make a huge difference to your life :-)

Michelle Frost
P.S. I always call listening to Podcasts while I run - "my mobile university" :-)

Re: Manic Depresion And Market Madness

:D Wonder if you read my FF link from last night that also was along the same lines; but way outside of the Marketing arena. http://www.conversations.or... .
